Ensign Rachel Whitney is posted at a remote missile installation on a North Pacific island, where she is to work in isolation with two men. She could love her new assignment, if Lt. George Hudson weren't so antagonistic and obstinate. She sets out to prove she is perfect for the top secret job, in spite of the tension between them.
The island is attacked, and another crew member lets slip that George has neglected to tell Rachel about one important aspect of their job. The nuclear warheads she thought they were guarding have been disarmed, and they are really protecting a valuable and rare element discovered in the water at the base of the island.
When word leaks out about the precious material they are guarding, Rachel and George have few resources besides each other and their faith in God to help them survive and foil an enemy attack that could endanger all of America.

Fraiser Island was a fast paced page turner. The story centers around George Hudson and Rachel Whitney. George is on a the very remote Fraiser Island. He is there with Pierre Belanger and Ron Davidson. Ron's assignment on the Island is up and he is being replaced by Rachel.Rachel and George each have their reasons for being is such a remote location. Dealing with past hurts is a big part of that. Their attraction is instant but each batton-down-the-hatches on their feelings. George is not mean per-say but not overly friendly.
Rachel really tries hard to get in his good graces. She is well trained but not afraid to be female. She and Pierre become very good friends. They have a good time together and Pierre slowly tries to bridge the gap between her and George.
George has not been honost about what they are really guarding. He finally clues her in. There is a lot that happens after this part in the story. You are not sure who the enemy is. There are hints but you keep turning pages to see what happens next.
I agree with the other reviewers that Susan gave us the perfect balance of romance and suspense. And I did love the last chapter. That is worth the whole book. Aaahhhhh!!!!!
The characters and emotions felt very real. She sucked you in on the first page and by the end of the book you've fallen in love with each of them and feel like you were part of their journey.
Get the book! It's a keeper. I can't wait for Finding Marie due out in September. That is Pierre and Marie's story. She turns up missing and Pierre calls on his best friend George.

This book is a slow read. Early into the book it became a romance novel. I wanted more professionalism for the majority of the book. In this way, I was disappointed. It's not a bad book, just not my style. I selected this book because I had read the Navy Justice series, which I enjoyed ( and I could nitpick those too, but the overall books were good reads)
I'm starting the next one right away! Kept me interested and not wanting to put my down. Enjoy it!
Having served in the Marine Corps, I enjoyed reading this story about two military personnel working to keep our country safe. Great characters and plenty of surprises.
I got really hooked into this series, and took such a liking to the characters that I think about them long after I finish the book. Some great insights into the defence force and I love the way Susan Page Davis takes you right into the settings. I also love how she makes the faith of her characters come alive.
Love this story and Susan Davis has a writing style that will keep you leaning in until the story is over.
Frasier Island is the first book in this three part series by Susan Page Davis. It is a Christian romance, suspense and mystery novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters had such depth to them. I was caught up in reading about this island and following these characters heal from their past. Great clean read and definitely would recommend.
Ensign Rachel Whitney arrives on Frasier Island as the first woman to serve on the US Navy's smallest base - just three people, alone together for six months at a time. Rachel is a new Christian, working through problems with anger - and her attraction to her boss, the legendary Lt George Hudson. But George keeps Rachel at a distance, so she strikes up a friendship with her other colleague Ensign Pierre Belanger. When the island comes under attack, Rachel finds George and Pierre have been hiding a secret from her - a secret that other people know about, and are prepared to go to any lengths to obtain.
I really enjoyed this book, especially the suspense mixed in with the developing relationships between Rachel and Pierre then Rachel and George, mixed with the established banter between George and Pierre (where the reader gets to understand better why George acts in the way he does).
This is the first book in a trilogy - the others are Finding Marie and Inside Story.
